Abstract

This dataset shows surficial geology in the Mirabel area. The study area is located northwest of Montreal, includes four regional county municipalities: Argenteuil, Deux-Montagnes, Mirabel and Therese-De-Blainville. The Quaternary sediments in the region control the recharge of the fractured bedrock aquifer and determine the conditions of its confinement. The main settings are: buried valleys, till plain, Sainte-Thérèse esker, and area of secondary channels and lag deposits.

Introduction
General process description
Process step Sources
The dataset comes from the file geo_poly.shp included in the project AFSOQ archives folder. Fields were added to the attribute table. Geological information comes from the bulletin "Inventaire canadien des ressources en eau souterraine: Caractérisation hydrogéologique régionale et intégrée du système aquifère fracturé du sud-ouest du Québec" produced by the Geological survey of Canada. Surfical geology unit were reclassified according to Geological Survey of Canada standard surficial geology legend (http://dx.doi.org/10.4095/290144) when it was possible - with the understanding that some units might not perfectly match in the new classification. The original classification is kept in the dataset.
